The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

November 17, 2002 - Baghdad warns that a US strike will lead it to hit back at Israel - Tariq Aziz, Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister, gave his clearest warning yet yesterday that Baghdad would launch strikes against Israel if it was attacked by Britain and America. - Mr Aziz said that his government was "capable of defending our nation". He added: "We are an old nation and we could survive. But I tell you, if the US and UK wage a war against Iraq, the consequences will be very bad to them and their friends in the region. "If they don't care about their friends, then that gives you an idea about their real intentions. This is going to be devastating, not only to Iraq, but to them also. The aggressors will also suffer a great deal of losses." Comment: Well, heck! We have known all along that this is what Bush and the gang are after! They play "buddy-buddy" with Israel, manipulate the whole "get us into a war" shtick, pretend to demonize the Arabs, and then drive So-Damn Insane to push the button, and presto! No more Israel. Bush's problems are all solved... After all... there have been a LOT of rumors about Mossad blackmailing Washington. Clever way to get rid of your blackmailer, eh?

During the 1930's, Nazi Germany's rise to totalitarian power was well under way. Warning signs of the terror to come was being felt by increasing numbers of people. Among them was a young woman of great courage and insight. Charlotte Beradt recorded and collected people's dreams about the Nazi government's domination of their lives; dreams that tell of the painful political realities of the emerging Nazi State. In his essay at the conclusion of the volume, published in 1966, Bruno Bettelheim remarked that it was a shocking experience reading this book of dreams and seeing how effectively the Nazis murdered sleep, "forcing its enemies to dream dreams that showed that resistance was impossible and that safety lay only in compliance."

Comment: I find it very interesting that this book was published in 1966... It is difficult not to notice the comparison to the " abduction scenario" which we theorize was introduced into people's minds via Secret Government Mind Control Projects. It is a certainty that the abduction "experience," is literally a "forcing of the people to dream dreams that show that resistance is impossible...and that safety lies in compliance. And an entire " New Age" religion has been built around it, supporting it, promoting it, and then compensating for it with the idea of "Ascension" by "turning within for a place of safety." We say HUMBUG!

"We were shocked, and frankly we were a little frightened," said Zelitsky. "It was as though we should not be seeing what we were seeing. Our first thought was maybe we found some kind of secret military installation." - Dr. Robert Ballard sez: "That's too deep," he said of the 2,000-foot site. "I'd be surprised if it was human. You have to ask yourself, how did it get there? - Recently excavated sculptures by the Olmec and Totonec peoples, also of the Yucatan and Central America, are about 4,500 to 6,000 years old. - But 2,000 feet? If the megaliths are indeed ruins, how did they get so deep?

Gore sez: Our country is headed for very deep trouble Bush's economic agenda is "catastrophic," his foreign policy "horrible," his environmental stance "immoral."

Fifth successive night of Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip, which the army says is intended to crack down on militants spearheading a two-year-old Palestinian uprising for independence.

Palestinians appeared to be in danger of being forced out of their homes in the West Bank city of Hebron yesterday after Israel's Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, said land taken over by Jewish settlers in the Old City should be linked with the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba on the edge of town.

Thousands of Greek protesters denounced a possible U.S. attack on Iraq on Sunday during an annual march marking a 1973 student revolt which led to the birth of the feared November 17 guerrilla group. - "No to War in Iraq" and "Americans -- Killers of Nations," read several of the banners carried by demonstrators.

Israeli security guards on Sunday foiled a suspected hijacking attempt on an El Al Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Istanbul, overpowering a passenger armed with a pocket knife, witnesses and officials said. - El Al is renowned as one of the most security-conscious airlines in the world after a number of high-profile hijackings and attempted hijackings in the 1970s. Its planes feature locked cockpits designed to thwart attempted hijackings.

Thousands took the streets to demand the resignation of Haiti's president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide.Comment: Now THERE'S an idea...

The mud that has been cascading down on Wall Street has taken on a more lurid hue following the publication in the US of a shocking book that details years of abuse and intimidation of female brokers by their groping and sex-obsessed male colleagues. - Although the book – Tales of the Boom Boom Room – expands mostly on a legal case filed by former employees of Smith Barney that was settled four years ago, it includes details never before revealed. Many of the pages, describing everything from foul language to lap-dancing in the workplace, are not family reading.

'Green pope' warns of worldwide catastrophe over new Gulf War - Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch – who leads 360 million Christians worldwide – told The Independent on Sunday last week that there would be "catastrophic consequences" if the US and Britain attacked. His intervention follows a strongly worded message from Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, head of the Roman Catholic church in England and Wales, and fellow bishops saying that it was a "moral responsibility to avoid this war".

The biggest protests in three years against the hardliners who rule Iran appeared to have succeeded yesterday, after the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered a death sentence on a reformist academic to be reviewed. - Hashem Aghajari, a history lecturer at Tehran University and a war veteran who lost a leg in the Iran-Iraq war, was convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to hang for a speech in June in which he said each generation should re-interpret Islam for itself rather than blindly following the mullahs. Comment: And Bush isn't after these guys? a place that needs a REAL Regime Change?! Sheesh! He's slippin'...

Tormented by skinheads, deported family faces bleak future Asylum-seekers want a safe future for their children away from the anti-Gypsy hatred of their homeland ... Comment: This is a truly chilling story if all the details are being accurately presented.

Mafia boss has religious experience watching Pope on television, turns self in. - Benedetto Marciante, on the run since September after receiving a 30-year sentence for his part in the gruesome murder of another gangster, was in his Rome hideout this week when the Pope came on the television. Marciante was "electrified" according to his lawyers. Some hours later he knocked on the gates of Rebibbia Jail in the capital and told the incredulous guards: "I've realised that I have made many mistakes in my life – so here I am."

Reader comments: I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how much I appreciate the "Signs" news updates and commentaries. I can tell from your recent remarks that you are beginning to weary of the task and wondering if there is any real use in continuing. I can tell you that I visit the "Signs" page daily and would miss it if you decided not to continue. I probably get about 95% percent of my news via the Internet now and my top four sources and/or starting points are Yahoo, GoogleNews, truthout, and the Signs page. You do a good job of gathering material from multiple sources and the accompanying commentary is helping me become familiar with the channeled information in a gradual fashion. I know it's a lot of work and I do understand your feelings as to the usefulness of continuing to "sound the alarm" when the dark path has perhaps already been chosen. I share those feelings. I am constantly disturbed, outraged, and frustrated by the obvious lies that are being perpetrated on us hourly at this point. And I'm beside myself at the apparently widespread disinterest in knowing about these things. But I suspect that there are a lot of decent people, standing frozen like deer in the headlights, in the middle ground between those who care and those who don't. They know something isn't right, but they feel helpless so they just try to focus on their lives and hope it will be okay somehow. I'm afraid things are going to become a lot more personal for them before that can happen.

November 16, 2002 - Meet America's New Big Brother - John Poindexter is a retired Navy Admiral, John Poindexter lost his job as National Security Adviser under Ronald Reagan, and was convicted of conspiracy, lying to Congress, defrauding the government, and destroying evidence in the Iran Contra scandal. On February 13, 2002, Americans were warned that our nation was facing the threat of danger to homeland security. Three hours later it happened, but nobody told America. That day, John M. Poindexter was appointed Director of the Pentagon's Information Awareness Office. Why is a person CONVICTED of those crimes being hired for such an important government post?

SCANDAL! * John Negroponte, as ambassador to Honduras from 1981-85, covered up human rights abuses by the CIA-trained Battalion 316. He is Bush's choice for U.S. ambassador to the U.N. and was expected to clear Senate confirmation hearings.

* Elliott Abrams, an assistant secretary of state under Reagan, pleaded guilty in 1991 to two counts of withholding evidence from Congress (i.e., lying) over his role in the Iran-Contra affair. Bush I pardoned him; Bush II has appointed him to the National Security Council as director of its office for democracy, human rights and international operations. The post requires no Senate approval.

* Otto Reich's nomination as assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs, the top post for Latin America, was predicted to draw the most congressional fire. Reich was head of the now-defunct Office for Public Diplomacy (OPD), which the House Committee on Foreign Affairs censured for "prohibited, covert propaganda activities" (Washington Post, 10/11/87).

Bush's top advisers discussing domestic intelligence agency that would take over responsibility for counterterrorism spying and analysis from the FBI, according to U.S. government officials and intelligence experts.

" Gentlemen! We have called you together to inform you that we are going to overthrow the United States government." So begins a statement being delivered by Gen. Carl W. Steiner, former Commander-in-chief, U.S. Special Operations Command. - But it is not Steiner. It is the result of voice "morphing" technology developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. - Most Americans were introduced to the tricks of the digital age in the movie Forrest Gump, when the character played by Tom Hanks appeared to shake hands with President Kennedy. For Hollywood, it is special effects. For covert operators in the U.S. military and intelligence agencies, it is a weapon of the future.

Archeologists Look for UFO at Famed Roswell Site - In an effort to verify once and for all whether a UFO crash-landed in New Mexico more than 50 years ago, the cable TV channel sent a team of archeologists to conduct an in-depth study of the legendary crash site. And just like the alleged government conspiracy by those who say aliens landed near Roswell, New Mexico, the results of the scientific study are top secret. That is until Nov. 22, when SCI FI airs "The Roswell Crash: Startling New Evidence," which will include what network representatives are calling a "smoking gun." - SCI FI representatives say the program promises never- before-seen eyewitness interviews, late-breaking revelations and a "smoking gun bombshell," which does not necessarily coincide with the archeological findings. "The smoking gun is fascinating and compelling. It's going to raise a lot of questions afterwards," said Thomas Vitale, a senior vice president of programming at the SCI FI Channel.

Strong similarities among the disappearances of four young adults in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota are leading their parents to believe the cases may be related, the father of one of the missing people said Friday. The missing are all in their early 20s, and all disappeared between Oct. 30 and Nov. 9 within a 90-mile radius in northwestern Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.

Saddam pays Gaddafi $3 billion to give his family safe haven in Libya - I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't hidden all his nukes there, too! - Word of Saddam’s deal with the Libyan leader has emerged from diplomatic sources in Tripoli following a visit to the Libyan capital on September 8 by General Ali Hasan al-Majid, a cousin and trusted member of Saddam’s clan.

A Washington forum debated on Friday the benefits and hazards posed by a new way of identifying people with a microchip implanted under their skin to replace conventional paper identification. The heated debate at the National Academies, a non-profit think-tank advising the government on matters of technology and science, focused on the threat to individual privacy versus the convenience of switching to a chip.

Turns out that nine of the 12 Israelis killed in an ambush on Friday were soldiers or members of the paramilitary border police. Among them was the Israeli army commander in Hebron, Colonel Dror Weinberg – the most senior officer to die in the two-year intifada. The other three dead were armed Jewish settlers who had rushed to the help of the soldiers. The killings, the work of Palestinian militants most Israelis thought were all but beaten by sheer military force, are a body blow to the Israeli army. It appears it may have been the work of only three gunmen, who were all killed in the fighting. The hardline militant group Islamic Jihad took responsibility.

Farmers pay school fees with pork chops as recession bites - The cafeteria freezers are now filled to the brim with pig roasts, chops, ribs, sausages and bacon – good news for students, who are overwhelmingly carnivores in this part of the US. And Lindenwood is also leading the way to a barter system for impoverished families struggling to educate their children.

November 15, 2002 - Coronal holes appear as dark areas of the corona when viewed in ultraviolet light. They can have a direct impact on Earth. One is shown here as opening on November 14, 2002. - Solar wind gusts from the indicated coronal hole might buffet Earth's magnetic field as early as Nov. 16th. NEW WOODWARD BOOK REVEALED - top Bush aides may soon regret giving Woodward access to the inner workings of the administration. - Woodward's BUSH AT WAR follows on the heels of Bill Sammon's NYT Bestseller FIGHTING BACK, THE WAR ON TERRORISM FROM INSIDE THE BUSH WHITE HOUSE, intensifying the cross-town rivalry between The WASHINGTON TIMES and the WASHINGTON POST.

Coalition aircraft patrolling the southern "no-fly" zone in Iraq struck an air defense communications facility Friday after the planes came under heavy fire, an action the United States said violates the latest U.N. resolution. Comment: See the following:

Resolution Clause Could Trigger War - The U.N. resolution demanding that Iraq disarm includes a little-noted provision that could be an early trigger for war. The wording could be interpreted as requiring Iraq to stop its frequent firings on American and British planes enforcing "no-fly" zones over the country's northern and southern sectors. One sentence in Resolution 1441 says Iraq "shall not take or threaten hostile acts" against any personnel of any U.N. member state who are "taking action to uphold" any Security Council resolution. Some in the Bush administration say this is relevant to the flight-interdiction patrols because the flights were implemented to uphold an April 1991 U.N. resolution designed to keep Iraq from repressing its civilian population. That view is not universally accepted, however, because the patrols are not explicitly authorized by the Security Council.

Cost of toppling Saddam Hussein may run into hundreds of billions of dollars and this time America will have to foot the bill itself. - According to William Nordhaus, Sterling professor of economics at Yale University, the best-case scenario of a short, "clean" war is likely to incur costs for which no amount of increased Iraqi oil production could compensate. - "The Bush administration has not prepared the public for the cost or the financing of what could prove to be an expensive venture,'' Professor Nordhaus said. "Perhaps the administration is fearful that a candid discussion of wartime economics will give ammunition to sceptics of the war; perhaps it worries acknowledging the costs will endanger the large future tax cuts, which are the centrepiece of its domestic policy. "None the less, the price must be paid, by raising taxes, by cutting expenditures, or by forcing the Federal Reserve do the job by raising interest rates. One way or another, Americans will pay for the war.''

Congress approved a commission to investigate the September 11, terrorist attacks. - The chairman is to be appointed by the Bush administration and the vice chairman chosen by Democrats. Comment: Well, with a chairman chosen by the Bush gang, look for nothing but a white house/wash.

The U.S. State Department is warning that the Thursday execution of a Pakistani man for killing two CIA employees might trigger retaliatory attacks by terrorists. Kasi, 38, died by lethal injection at 9:07 p.m. ET at the Greensville Correctional Center. The Pakistani native was convicted of an ambush-style murder spree with an AK-47 rifle at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, on January 25, 1993. Two agency employees died, three others were wounded.

Palestinian militants ambushed a group of Israeli Jews who were on their way home from prayer services Friday, killing at least 12, including the region's highest ranking military official, who was among soldiers who rushed to defend them, Israeli officials said. The militants opened fire and launched grenades at the Israelis in the West Bank city of Hebron, officials said. Another 16 people were wounded in the terror attack. At least one was in critical condition and three were in serious condition, the Israeli government said. Among the dead was the brigade commander for the Division of Judea, the highest ranking Israel Defense Forces official in the area, the Consulate General of Israel in New York said. The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack

Smashing together atoms to produce conditions similar to those in the first cosmic moments, scientists came up with some startling results that could force them to reexamine their understanding of the universe. The atomic collision, as expected, produced temperatures tens of thousands of times hotter than the core of the hottest star, a thermodynamic pinnacle unmatched since microseconds after the Big Bang. But exotic particles streamed from the hot plasma soup in surprising patterns, leading the researchers to question collision models intended to shed light on the strong nuclear force, one of the fundamental forces acting on subatomic particles.

Whether it's a mouse versus a cat, or a human versus an [alien], a well-placed sense of fear is critical for survival. But there's also danger when that fear is so overwhelming that it keeps an animal or human from functioning. Researchers say they have now pinpointed the part of the brain in laboratory rats that functions to calm fears when it is stimulated. Scientists say further studies may help in treating humans with anxiety disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. "The reduction of fear is an active, not a passive process," said Gregory Quirk, associate professor of physiology at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico.

Comment: I couldn't help but replace the term in the opening sentence with "alien." This study highlights the work we do here at Cassiopaea. Facing fear, learning to actively reduce fear, dealing again and again with trauma in a safe way, enables us to become free of any and all things that may cause fear, thus paralyzing us and preventing us from living a full life and dealing with whatever we may encounter in this all-too-uncertain future. The Wave series goes into the subject in extreme detail.

Al Qaeda may be planning "spectacular attacks" in the United States that will cause "mass casualties" and "severe damage" to the economy, according to a federal law enforcement bulletin. Comment: Sounds like they are just playing with the fears of the people so as to bolster support for a war with Iraq. Of course, they are relying on people to not notice that war with Iraq has nothing to do with Al Qaeda. What's more, they know that the Bush Gang's pursuit of war with Iraq is going to bring retailiation, so they are laying the ground work for placing blame. What nobody seems to be talking about is: there is more to the Sept 11 attacks than "Al Qaeda," and a "regime change" in Iraq is only making matters worse. Now, we are not only targeted by inept terrorists, we are going to be targeted by several countries with serious WMD's ... probably all aimed at the USA. That's us: you and me. See next item!

White House tones down terror warning - The White House and the FBI Friday began back-peddling from a warning the bureau issued saying al Qaida was plotting "spectacular" attacks against the United States, after critics latched on to it to show progress in the war on terror was faltering. - National security adviser Condoleezza Rice said at a White House briefing that the FBI's warnings this week are "really are a summary of intelligence, not a new warning. This is a summary of intelligence as we know it." Her statement came as the Bush administration rushed to offset the FBI's startling language and refute charges by Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle that the war on terror was faltering and an attack on Iraq would distract the nation from the more pressing danger posed by al Qaida.

Europeans Warn of Attacks - Normally circumspect European intelligence and law enforcement officials have issued a wave of stark warnings in the last two weeks in an echo of U.S. fears that another terrorist attack may be on the way, including the possibility that al Qaeda could employ chemical or other weapons of mass destruction against European targets. The statements -- by officials in Britain, Germany and France, as well as by the head of Interpol, the international law enforcement agency -- represent a breadth of concern that the continent has not experienced since immediately after the attacks in New York and at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, that killed more than 3,000 people and galvanized international efforts to combat terrorism.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld predicted Thursday that a war with Iraq -- if there is one, he stressed -- would not turn into World War III. "I can't tell you if the use of force in Iraq today will last five days, five weeks or five months, but it won't last any longer than that," he said in an hour-long radio interview for Infinity Broadcasting. "It won't be a World War III," he added, citing the "vastly more powerful" U.S. forces, compared to 10 years ago during the Persian Gulf War.

Motherhood may make women smarter and may help prevent dementia in old age by bathing the brain in protective hormones, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday. Tests on rats show that those who raise two or more litters of pups do significantly better in tests of memory and skills than rats who have no babies, and their brains show changes that suggest they may be protected against diseases such as Alzheimer's. Comment: Trust me! It's all the cerebral exercise at being a referee... stimulates the brain! (maybe it's a joke, maybe not!)

The suicides of two teenage boys and an attempted suicide by another teenage boy this week have sent shock waves through the Pioneer Central School District. Authorities would not name the two victims except to say one was 14 and the other 15. Police also said the first two deaths were not linked, though the second death and the attempted suicide appear to be connected.

Myra Hindley, the Moors murderer whose part in the killing of five children made her one of the most enduringly notorious and controversial figures in Britain for more than 30 years, died last night in a Suffolk hospital. After 36 years behind bars, Hindley, 60, finally lost her battle to die a free woman at 4.58pm when she succumbed to the series of heart and lung conditions which had seen her health deteriorate rapidly over recent weeks. - Hindley, along with her partner Ian Brady, were jailed for life in May 1966 for a series of child murders which shattered the innocence of 1960s Britain. Brady was convicted of the sexual abuse, torture and murder of three youngsters, Lesley Ann Downey, 10, Edward Evans, 17, and John Kilbride, 12; Hindley was found guilty of killing Downey and Evans, and of shielding Brady after Kilbride's murder. In 1987, they confessed to killing Pauline Reade, 16, and Keith Bennett, 12. His body has never been recovered. - Bennett's mother, Winnie Johnson, who has begged Hindley to reveal where her son is buried, said: "I hope she rots in hell... I always hoped she would be able to tell me, at least something of what I wanted to know, and I've never given up that hope. I want him back and buried in a proper grave." - Phil Woolas, the Labour MP whose constituency covers Saddleworth moor, where Brady and Hindley's victims were buried, said: "She never expressed any remorse and refused to cooperate with the investigations into Lesley Ann Downey's and Keith Bennett's deaths, and nobody in my constituency and this part of the world will mourn her passing."

Strong winds fanned more than 100 wildfires in eastern Australia yesterday as fresh blazes broke out in bushland on the suburban fringes of Sydney.

In his first interviews since conceding the presidency to George W. Bush almost two years ago, former vice president Al Gore calls the outcome of the 2000 election "a crushing disappointment" and criticizes the 5-4 Supreme Court decision that put Bush in the White House as "completely inconsistent" with the court's conservative philosophy. "I believe that if everyone in Florida who tried to vote had had his or her vote counted properly, that I would have won," Gore said in an interview with Washington Post Magazine staff writer Liza Mundy for an article to be published Sunday. "I strongly disagreed with the Supreme Court decision and the way in which they interpreted and applied the law. But I respect the rule of law, so it is what it is." Gore told ABC's Barbara Walters, in an interview to air tonight on ABC's "20/20," that he "absolutely" believed he would become president when the Florida Supreme Court ordered a recount of all disputed ballots in the state, making the result all the more emotionally difficult to accept. His wife, Tipper, said in the Post interview, "I still believe we won.

November 14, 2002 - Titanic volcanic eruption seen on Io - The reader who sent in this link comments: This article from the New Scientist seems to show a volcanic eruption the size of a small continent. The visuals are fascinating and the article interesting. But, there is one little thing that bothers me. What caused an explosion of this size to manifest so suddenly and so strongly that it sent plumes of lava shooting up several kilometers into the sky? The article states these images where captured in Feb. 2001 and only recently analyzed. A little investigation of the "Io watch" shows monitoring began in February 1995. Several websites have images, but nothing *this* detailed. The point of my observations here is to see the level of information being revealed to the public, the level of technology, and the possible reasons why. I think the public is being prepared for the arrival of an impact with the Earth. Several mainstream news articles have been published in the past year. Is the type of technology being used vastly superior to what had been available in 1995? Yes. - Or, has someone received information from 4D? Both of these could be a possibility. We know that the Bush Gang, among others, is aware of and preparing for some type of cosmic catastrophe. In addition, the Vatican has it's very own observatory keeping watch for....something. If Io was struck by an asteroid which caused the eruption, it could have been a gift of warning from 4D to their servants. And they received this gift in early 2001. So, it seems everything is rolling along.

November 13, 2002 - Mozart [the cat] appears to be the latest in a string of animal killings in Aurora and Denver that have disturbing similarities: All the animals have been dissected in a surgically precise way, often with someone cleanly removing their internal organs, then leaving the bloodless carcasses near their homes. - The remains of at least 10 cats, two squirrels and one rabbit have been found in Aurora and Denver since July 19, officials said, and those who study criminal behavior find it alarming. - Some officials believe teenagers are involved, and a sign posted in DeYoung's neighborhood the day after Mozart's death claims police suspect teenagers in the slayings and that teens were seen casing backyards with small animals. - "The precision and the frequency have everyone most concerned," Porter said. "They're doing surgery on these animals." - Evidence suggests that youths who attack animals may do the same to humans, he said.

The Bush regime is adopting the fundamentalism of the Islamic terrorists it is pursuing. - Washington's hypocrisy is breathtaking. - At a conference in Bangkok last weekend, the US threatened to withdraw its support for a crucial UN family planning agreement. In a spectacularly delayed dummy spit, the US delegation objected to the final declaration of the 1994 UN population conference, which was held in Cairo. After eight years, the Americans suddenly can't abide certain phrases ("reproductive rights" and "reproductive health services") in the declaration on the grounds they can be interpreted as supporting abortion. The Cairo meeting was a milestone. For the first time, it forged a global consensus that the best way to combat overpopulation and poverty is to give women more control over their fertility. - So at a time when it is fighting fundamentalism, the US's social agenda has moved to the Right of that of the biggest Muslim nation. - Yet since he assumed office, the world's most powerful man has set out to deny the world's least powerful women a right his own constituents exercise freely. This is a sickening double standard and Bush's approach has far more to do with political self-interest than deeply held principle.

November 12, 2002 - Cassiopaea EXCLUSIVE Interview with the Bogdanov Twins - A great many derogatory comments have been made in the press about the so-called "Honorable mention," known in the US as a "passing grade," that you both received in your Theses defenses. We have discussed the matter with one of your thesis supervisors who has indicated that there were, indeed, special circumstances surrounding the event. In fact, he has stated that Moshe Flato felt that you two had been subjected to unacceptable a priori censorship, almost a witch hunt. Can you describe for us what, exactly, took place?

Milky Way's black hole on starvation diet - The black hole at the heart of our galaxy is being starved of food, say astronomers studying polarised radio waves coming from the Milky Way's centre.

"Our observations show that the black hole is on a starvation diet," says Heino Falcke, of the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Germany. The findings explain why this supermassive black hole burns less brightly than monstrous black holes in other galaxies. -

The black hole was previously thought to swallow up as much as 10 Earth masses every year. But the new study shows that the hole can only consume less than 0.1 per cent of the Earth's mass per year. -

"Being able to say it is definitely not being fed very much hangs together quite nicely with other work," he told New Scientist .

Black holes are thought to show varying activity, he says, and "there must be something that wakes these monsters up. The most reasonable explanation is something feeding them."

A reporter for LE MONDE asked Putin whether the Russian military's use of land mines in Chechnya was killing innocent civilians as well as Islamic terrorists. "If you are a Christian, you are in danger," Putin charged. "If you decide to become a Muslim, this won't save you either, because they think that traditional Islam is also hostile to their goals." Putin continued: "If you are determined to become a complete Islamic radical and are ready to undergo circumcision, then I invite you to Moscow. We are multi-confessional. We have experts in this sphere as well. I will recommend to conduct the operation so that nothing on you will grow again." Kremlin aides later explained that Putin was both "exhausted" and, as one put it, "sick and tired of Chechnya." Comment: Funny how the TRUTH comes out when a person is "tired."

US dismisses Iraqi parliament vote as "political theater" - "The Iraqi parliament doesn't have much of any voice in the conduct of the affairs of this regime. There's only one voice that truly matters in that despotic regime," White House national security spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters. "This is political theater." - The 250-member Iraqi parliament voted unanimously Tuesday to reject Security Council Resolution 1441, a US-crafted roster of demands aimed at dismantling Baghdad's alleged chemical, biological or nuclear weapons programs and stockpiles. - Under the terms of the UN resolution, Iraq has until Friday to signal whether it will comply with the measure -- adopted unanimously by the 15 Security Council members -- or face severe consequences.

Israeli armoured vehicles staged a brief raid into Tulkarem Palestinian refugee camp in the northern West Bank before dawn, following an attack on an Israeli kibbutz that cost five lives. The entry and rapid departure of 20 tanks, jeeps and troop carriers was a surprisingly low-key response after the new right-wing government vowed stiff retaliation. The vehicles left at dawn, Palestinian witnesses said Tuesday. Comment: I still want somebody to explain to me "Palestinian Refugee Camp." How the Hell did Palestinians become REFUGEES in their OWN COUNTRY???

Astronomers find evidence of mysterious 'dark forces' - Astronomers have discovered a mysterious phenomenon that is making the Universe expand at an ever-faster rate. -"Unfortunately, we don't have the faintest idea what this dark energy is," said Ian Browne, a senior member of the research team at the University of Manchester. Cosmologists have known for some time that about 90 per cent of the mass of the Universe is missing because it cannot be seen by telescopes. They call it "dark matter" but its existence cannot explain the anti-gravity forces causing the universe to expand at an accelerating rate. Comment: Can we say The Wave?

Condemned woman urges end to Miss World boycott Adulterous wife who faces death by stoning welcomes beauty queens and says 'No man can harm me without God's permission' - "I really appreciate the support of the contestants who have offered to boycott for me, but I urge them to come," Amina Lawal, 31, said outside her lawyer's home in Abuja, the capital. "I am not afraid, because no man can do me harm without God's permission." More than 80 contestants arrived from London on Monday, easing Nigeria's fears that the largest showbiz event it has staged was about to go disastrously wrong. The death sentences passed on Ms Lawal and other Muslim women by Islamic sharia courts caused international outrage and led the Nigerian authorities to promise they would not allow any stoning sentences to be enforced. - But the federal government refuses to intervene directly in the Islamic court system that imposed the sentence. - Although a number of countries threatened a boycott, it appears that no more than five will stay away. The contestants from Costa Rica, Denmark, Switzerland, South Africa and Panama have yet to show up, but most of the others have been reassured by the promise from the Nigerian government that the sentence will not be carried out.

What are the odds? Let's just say it's the proverbial "astronomical." - Comal County elections officials noticed an extreme oddity after the final votes were tallied in Tuesday's general election. County Judge Danny Scheel received 18,181 votes in his victory over Lois Duggan.

Republican state Sen. Jeff Wentworth also got 18,181 votes in Comal County in his win over Democrat Joseph Sullivan and Libertarian Rex Black.

To make matters even stranger, Comal County also gave Republican Carter Casteel exactly 18,181 votes in her victory over Democrat Virgil Yanta in the race for District 73 state representative.

"Isn't that the weirdest thing?" County Clerk Joy Streater asked. "We noticed it right away, but it is just a big coincidence. I checked the precincts and the numbers are all different in every precinct for each of them. They just coincidentally all add up to 18,181."

Maybe it's not as weird as the daily Pick 3 lottery drawing in New York coming up 911 on the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.

And it's not as odd as 202 people showing up to vote in alphabetical order at Box 13 in Jim Wells County in 1948, and all voting for Lyndon Baines Johnson, giving him an 89-vote margin of victory in the U.S. Senate race against Coke Stephenson.

But since some of those "voters" were dead or later testified at hearings that they did not, in fact, vote, some people don't consider that incident a coincidence as much as a fraud. In Comal County, it's just the weirdest thing.

Comment: Sounds like a glitch in the "fixed" election software. Bush and the gang fixed the election. It's that simple. We are now officially a Banana Republic.

ELECTION POST-MORTEM - Talion.com has been exploring the background of ES&S, which is reputed to be the largest election-management company in the world. Hardware and software services, voting machines, 40,000 elections run in 30 years, globally. Counted 100,000,000 votes in the 2000 US election.

So now Talion has received a letter from the attorneys for ES&S. The letter wants a retraction by Talion for, apparently, alleging a conspiracy in vote counts. Talion denies its material alleges a conspiracy. sf.indymedia.org is also running a relevant article, and giving links re ES&S.

One more than interesting thing I glean from all this material. It is stated that one of the owners of ES&S (there appear to be a number of owners) is Charter Oaks Partners. Charter Oaks is cited as a an affiliate of Rothschild Realty, Inc. And this latter outfit is cited as an affiliate of Rothschild, Inc.

Jump shift: Tupper Saussy's tremendous book, Rulers of Evil (HarperCollins). Saussy writes, "I looked them [House of Rothschild] up in Encyclopedia Judaica and discovered that they bear the title "guardian of the Vatican Treasury'...Who would ever search a family of orthodox Jews for the key to the wealth of the Roman Catholic Church?" Saussy then makes a possible further connection between Rothschild and "Rome"---in the outlands of unexplored history: Ancient Roman soldiers carried red shields. In German, Rothschild means "red shield." At one point, the Rothschild firm adopted the name, Meyer Amschel Rothschild and Sohne. The acronym for that is MARS. The red planet. The planet of war.

Blair fires warning of Christmas terror - TONY BLAIR will tonight warn of the possibility of a Christmas and New Year terrorist campaign in the UK and call for a new "spirit of the Blitz". The Prime Minister will spell out the importance of public vigilance to try to foil al-Qaida operatives seeking to hit at Britain. And he will say that the threat from the terrorist network headed by Osama Bin Laden remains real and serious. He will point to last month’s bomb in a nightclub in Bali as evidence that no country is safe from the terrorists and that they are ready to go for soft targets to try to frighten their opponents. But Mr Blair will also appeal for the public to fight back against the fear of terror and develop the sort of defiant attitude that was developed during the German mass bombings of World War II - a new "spirit of the Blitz". - In a speech to Britain’s financial elite, Mr Blair will say the key aim of the terrorists are not merely to inflict death and damage but to disrupt normal life and undermine the economy through fear. He will tell the audience in the annual Mansion House speech that Britons must not allow the terrorists to win by becoming paralysed with fear.

Comment: Gee, sounds like Blair is really talking about himself and his buddy, George... and it seems like we are all paralyzed with fear of George and Tony... Reminds me of some quatrains in Nostradamus:

9: 55
The horrible war which is being prepared in the West,
The following year will come the pestilence
So very horrible that young, old, nor beast,
Blood, fire Mercury, Mars, Jupiter in France.

I:85
The king is troubled by the queen's reply.
Ambassadors will fear for their lives.
The greater of his brothers will doubly disguise his action,
two of them will die through anger, hatred and envy.

3:98
Two royal brothers will wage war so fiercely
That between them the war will be so mortal
That both will occupy the strong places:
Their great quarrel will fill realm and life.

8:17
Those at ease will suddenly be cast down,
the world put into trouble by three brothers;
their enemies will seize the marine city,
hunger, fire, blood, plague, all evils doubled.

9:36
A great King taken by the hands of a young man,
Not far from Easter confusion knife thrust:
Everlasting captive times what lightning on the top,
When three brothers will wound each other and murder.

When we think about the recent announcement of the Mars close approach - closest in 74,000 years - in addition to the comments above by Michael Rappoport about MARS being the acronym of the Rothchilds - the following quatrains from Nostradamus might be significant:

1:15
Mars threatens us with the force of war and will cause
blood to be spilt seventy times.
The clergy will be both exalted and reviled moreover,
by those who wish to learn nothing of them.

2:48
The great force which will pass the mountains.
Saturn in Sagittarius Mars turning from the fish:
Poison hidden under the heads of salmon,
Their war-chief hung with cord.

3:3
Mars and Mercury, and the silver joined together,
Towards the south extreme drought:
In the depths of Asia one will say the earth trembles,
Corinth, Ephesus then in perplexity.

4:33
Jupiter joined more to Venus than to the Moon
Appearing with white fulness:
Venus hidden under the whiteness of Neptune
Struck by Mars through the white stew.

5:14
Saturn and Mars in Leo Spain captive,
By the African chief trapped in the conflict,
Near Malta, "Herodde" taken alive,
And the Roman sceptre will be struck down by the Cock

[Read "USA" when you see the term "Roman" and the "Cock" is, naturally, France]

2:30
One who the infernal gods of Hannibal
Will cause to be reborn, terror of mankind
Never more horror nor worse of days
In the past than will come to the Romans through Babel.

[read "usa" instead of Romans," and read "irag" instead of Babel.]

6:21
When those of the arctic pole are united together,
Great terror and fear in the East:
Newly elected, the great trembling supported,
Rhodes, Byzantium stained with Barbarian blood

[Sounds like the Nordic Covenant: Bush and Blair...]

2:2
The blue head will inflict upon the white head
As much evil as France has done them good:
Dead at the sail-yard the great one hung on the branch.
When seized by his own the King will say how much.

9:73
The Blue Turban King entered into Foix,
And he will reign less than an evolution of Saturn:
The White Turban King Byzantium heart banished,
Sun, Mars and Mercury near Aquarius.

6:4
The Celtic river will change its course,
No longer will it include the city of Agrippina:
All changed except the old language,
Saturn, Leo, Mars, Cancer in plunder.

7:2
Arles opened up by Mars will not offer resistance,
the soldiers will be astonished by night.
Black and white concealing indigo on land
under the false shadow you will see traitors sounded.

8:2
Condom and Auch and around Mirande,
I see fire from the sky which encompasses them.
Sun and Mars conjoined in Leo,
then at Marmande, lightning, great hail,
a wall falls into the Garonne.

10:67 A very mighty trembling in the month of May,
Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter and Mercury in Taurus:
Venus also, Cancer, Mars in Virgo,
Hail will fall larger than an egg.

Mental health rights fears - The report explains: "The history of the 20th Century demonstrated that psychiatry is capable of being abused. "Nazi Germany and the USSR were probably not the only countries in which socially or politically unacceptable behaviour was regarded as a manifestation of a 'disorder of the mind'."

The draft plans have proved controversial - hundreds of protesters marched to lobby their MPs last month, focusing on two proposals contained in the draft bill: * mentally ill people living in the community should be forced to take their medication * the detention of dangerous people with severe personality disorders even if they have not committed a crime -

Concern is also expressed that the definitions of a mental disorder and medical treatment are too broad. This could lead to "the compulsory detention... of people for the protection of others when the people detained have never been charged with any criminal office and nothing can be done to alleviate the mental disorder from which they are suffering". The committee says "this raises human rights issues, flowing mainly from the breadth of circumstances in which a patient could be subjected to compulsory, non consensual treatment".

Reader comments: I was reading the page about " Death Threats" when a passage struck me. The passage was "...is that just about anybody can be gotten rid of by sending out a Greenbaumed, whacked out, sniper to knock off the main target, and take out a few extra people just to cover up the fact that there WAS a main target." For some reason it came to mind that one of the victims of the Washington sniper was an FBI analyst. Remembering the several agents that spoke up after 9-11, I started to think was someone else getting ready to speak out? Was this whole sniper thing to keep one person silent?

Reader contribution: I found this today. It's about the third secret of Fatima. I know that the C's have said that the lizzards are behind the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, but that's precisely why I find this more interesting: I'm sorry it's in spanish, but I haven't found the article in any english site so far. I translate the first paragraphs: "The Vatican is accused of hiding the true secret of Fatima. Rome (Notimex).- The true third secret of Fatima speaks of a "doctrinal crisis in the church" and a "third world war", according to a book presented by the cleric Klaus Kramer, who accused three cardinals of hiding this "revelation". The book, "The Last Battle of the Devil", argues that the third secret of Fatima, revealed by the Pope on May 2000 (and that speaks about the attempt of murder of the Pope in 1981) "is not the real one"...

U.S. Hopes to Check Computers Globally System Would Be Used to Hunt Terrorists -A new Pentagon research office has started designing a global computer-surveillance system to give U.S. counterterrorism officials access to personal information in government and commercial databases around the world. The Information Awareness Office, run by former national security adviser John M. Poindexter, aims to develop new technologies to sift through "ultra-large" data warehouses and networked computers in search of threatening patterns among everyday transactions, such as credit card purchases and travel reservations, according to interviews and documents. Comment: Notice how the fear of terrorists has been created in order to justify the kinds of controls predicted for years by the "New World Order" conspiracy theorists. Clever, eh? In this way, a database of personal information will be created, exactly as IBM created a database for the Nazis. This helped them decide who went to the gas chambers first, and who was sent to the camps to be worked to death. Oy vey, people! When will you wake up and see how the pan is being put to the boil and you are just a frog thinking it's all being done in your best interests!

31 Election Mistakes (So Far) - Thirty-one city newspapers have documented voting errors that only add to the ballot-stuffing, dead-people-voting, hide-the-ballots-in-your-trunk, absentee-faking problems of the past. The rush to computerized counting, and the consolidation of the "voting machine industry" into just three major players, who try to keep identities secret, fail to mention conflicts of interest, and shrug off criminal records has added new worries about the security of our voting process. -

The voting is over but the debate to understand the possible variances involved in manipulating the votes has only begun. Talion, otherwise know as Red Dog Publicity, calls itself, "The USA's most innovative publicity firm." They seem to be taking the lead in publishing a series of articles which which point to gross manipulation by a company called Election Systems & Software. ES&S states in their company profile that they are Òthe worldÕs largest and most experienced provider of total election management solutions, has handled more than 40,000 of the world's most important events - elections. In the U.S. 2000 General Election, ES&S systems counted over 100 million ballots. (1) Talion says ES&S are guilty of a conflict of interest.

Scientists claim new system will ID terrorists - Known terrorists or criminals will no longer be able to seek anonymity in a crowd, claims the CSIRO, which has developed computer face recognition technology capable of detecting one particular face among thousands - even if the person is in disguise. The system uses a video camera to scan the crowd and match faces against a file of electronic photos, alerting security staff should it spot a known terrorist or criminal. Contributor comment: Two years ago, I never would have thought such severe clampdowns would even be allowed. Disappearing and coopted web sites, airfares skyrocketing---I see an enforced tribalization of the world's population, bereft of alternate information sources and hunkering down in fear.
